Spicy vegetarian bakes from Gosh!

Chickpea, Courgette Moroccan Spice Bake review - Free From Fusion

The power of Facebook advertising got me as I noticed a new range of free from goodies available exclusively from Tesco last week. Gosh! have 4 products in their range currently and they are all free from the top 14 allergens. Sounding rather healthy, I opted for the nicest sounding option, the chickpea, courgette Moroccan spice bake.

These vegetarian bakes are a ideal quick lunchtime meal or a light dinner. The first thing I noticed was the distinct smell of the spices within the bake that reminded me of an onion bhaji. This was a good first impression so I was looking forward to see if they had a similar taste.

I have to admit, I didn’t quite get the onion bhaji taste I was hoping for but the spices that originally gave them the smell were not too overpowering and very flavourful, perfectly combined with the harissa peppers dotted on top.

Once baked, I served along with a side salad, however a more suitable accompaniment may have been a mango chutney. The bake itself was quite dry and a dollop of sweet mango chutney would have really complemented the spices within.

I’m not sure I would rush to buy again but it’s really encouraging to see a brand tackling all of the major allergens and still managing to produce something that tastes good.
